Methamphetamine (MA) on the street varies in color (including white, gray, yellow, brown, pink, orange, and translucent/clear) and in shape/consistency, including (including powder, liquid, gooey, chunks, crystal shards, and tablets). The differences in color and shape/consistency are due in part to the various recipes (chemicals, heating, straining) used to produce the drug, the competence of the “cook,” the cutting agents used (or the absence thereof), and the target consumer.[1] This stated, the basic chemical structure of MA remains the same regardless of color and shape/consistency.
MA that looks like crystal, glass, or ice tends to be relatively pure. When the drug gets off color or sort of gooey, it may be less pure, though that is not always the case.
